BYU signer Collin Chandler named McDonald’s All-American nominee
SALT LAKE CITY — BYU basketball signee Collin Chandler is up for one of high school hoops’ highest honors.
Chandler has been named a nominee for the 2022 McDonald’s All-American Game. After a two-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the McDonald’s All-American Game returns to Chicago this year in March.
Chandler was one of more than 760 nominees for the men’s and women’s All-American teams. He is one of four boys from Utah State to receive a nomination and the only hoop here in the state to prepare outside of Wasatch Academy.

Chandler has a chance to make the play as he is the 33rd overall rookie in the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2022 recruiting round. A 6-foot-4, 170-pound combo guard from Farmington High School, Chandler signed with BYU in November, turning down offers from Arizona, Gonzaga, Stanford, Utah and others.
This season is Chandler’s final year with Farmington High and the senior guard is averaging 20.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game in 15 appearances.
The final 2022 McDonald’s All-American list will be announced on Tuesday, January 25.
Chandler is the second highest rookie to sign with BYU in the 21st century. His 0.9860 composite score with 247Sports is just one point behind Eric Mika, who had a two-year career with BYU before playing professionally, which included a brief stint in the NBA.
