Southampton recovery worker dies in M3 Chandler Ford crash while recovering broken down vehicle

A man has died after being hit by a vehicle on a main road in Hampshire.

On Monday February 21, a 54-year-old man from Southampton was recovering a broken down vehicle when he was hit by a Mercedes Vito vehicle on the M3.

The recovery agent was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision happened on the M3 at Chandler’s Ford between Junctions 13 and 14.

His family has been notified and is now being cared for by specially trained officers.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “Officers are requesting information following a fatal road accident on the M3 at Chandlers Ford.

“At approximately 11.25pm ​​on Monday February 21, a Mercedes Vito vehicle and a pedestrian collided on the M3 between Junctions 13 and 14.

“The pedestrian, a 54-year-old man from Southampton, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a recovery officer working to recover a disabled vehicle.”

A call for witnesses has just been launched by the police.
