The King, Dailey and Chandler families visit Hawaii

Reverend and Mrs John M King’s grandson Christopher L Chandler poses with the blue marlin he caught off Oahu, Hawaii.

The families of Rev. and Mrs. John M. King (Frances Dailey), (former pastor of Phillips Mill Baptist Church), Mr. Marshall King, Mrs. Georgia Lee Dailey and Mr. and Mrs. William Chandler (Rebecca King ), and his sons, Will and Chris enjoyed a relaxing vacation in Hawaii. On a trip to Oahu, they stopped in San Jose, California. They took advantage of a short drive to Monterey to spend the afternoon at the Pebble Beach Resort. The young gentlemen played a Par 3 Tiger Woods course then met the rest of the family for dinner at ‘The Bench’ restaurant overlooking the eighteenth hole.

Once in Oahu, they enjoyed a variety of activities including golf, deep sea fishing, swimming with dolphins and a traditional luau. They participated in a Hawaiian tradition of cutting their lei and placing the orchids at the Arizona Memorial Ship’s Water Grave in Pearl Harbor. They also visited the “Big Mo” of Missouri and the Army Museum. The most memorable highlight of the trip was Christopher’s big catch. An avid fisherman, he caught a Blue Marlin about 20 miles off Oahu, Hawaii aboard the “Sea Hawk” with Captain Darrell and First Lt. Brewski. The Blue Marlin weighed 195 pounds, nine and a half feet long with a tail span of 41 inches. His reaction was: “It was an incredible experience, I can officially say that I caught a fish that weighs more than me. The family ended the trip with some members flying to the Big Island to golf at Marina Kea Golf Resort and deep sea fishing again in Kona, while part of the group stayed and enjoyed a specular sunset dinner at the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore of Oahu.
